Finnegan is committed to promoting and strengthening a diverse workplace where all feel welcome, included, and are given opportunities to advance within the firm. Our strategy of enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion includes, but is not limited to, internal and external initiatives that focus on recruiting, retention, a supportive infrastructure, professional association involvement, and community relations. We don’t just value diversity, we live it every day in thought, approach, and solutions. The firm’s success and growth are proof of the benefits of a collaborative culture that supports a range of initiatives to attract diverse talent.
The diversity scholarship award is $15,000 and a paid 2023 2L summer position in one of the firm’s domestic offices (Atlanta, Boston, Palo Alto, Reston, and Washington). The scholarship may be renewed if an associate offer is extended and accepted for Fall 2024.
Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school in the JD class of 2024, must meet Finnegan’s hiring criteria (a degree in life sciences/chemistry, engineering, or computer science, or substantial prior trademark experience), and must contribute to enhancing diversity. We define diversity broadly. Successful applicants have included members of racial, ethnic, disabled, and sexual orientation groups that have been historically underrepresented in the legal profession.
Students MUST submit a completed application (please visit Finnegan’s Career Page at www.finnegan.com to download), resume, undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) unofficial transcripts, and law school unofficial transcripts (once grades are posted), and a 1-2 page personal statement. The personal statement should include a description of how the applicant will contribute to Finnegan’s practice and diversity mission. Applications will be accepted from January 10, 2022 through February 18, 2022. Callback selections will be made in March 2022.
