Alternative Careers for Lawyers as Leaders in Government and Public Sector

This program is the final program of the 7 Part Lawyers as Leaders series, created by CBA President Jessica Brown.

One of the most important ways lawyers can lead and have an impact is through public service. As Justice Samuel Alito has stated, “Public service is and always has been at the heart of our profession.”

Please join our stellar panel including Colorado Senator Pete Lee, Denver District Attorney Beth McCann, Denver International Airport Chief of Staff Cristal Torres DeHerrera, Attorney Regulation Counsel, Jessica Yates, and our moderator, retired Judge Christopher Cross of JAMS. These government and community leaders will discuss various alternative careers for lawyers and judges and how to transition from the private to the public sector. Among other topics, they will discuss the traits and skills that make lawyers effective leaders in public positions, how their work in the private sector prepared them for public service, and whether running for office or making a similar career change might be for you.
