How to Combat Zoom Fatigue

It’s hard to be on a Zoom call without someone mentioning “Zoom Fatigue”.  While Zoom calls are unavoidable for most students, there are ways to combat this new phenomenon. Harvard Business Review recently published 6 ways to lessen this exhaustion.  The article also explains why we find video calls so draining.  Learn more about the tips below by checking out the full article.  The CDO office understands that Zoom Fatigue is very real and we are always available to speak over email or phone calls!

  1. Avoid multitasking
  2. Build in breaks
  3. Reduce onscreen stimuli
  4. Make virtual social events opt-in
  5. Switch to phone calls or emails (in situations where email is an adequate way to communicate about the matter at hand)
  6. For external calls, avoid defaulting to video, especially if you don’t know each other well
