Full posting below:

The Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel provides legal advice to the Governor, Cabinet, and Governor’s Office staff, assists in the development of the Governor’s policy initiatives, reviews and drafts legislation, coordinates and drafts the Governor’s executive orders, advises the Governor on state judicial appointments, prepares the State’s legal response to emergency and crisis situations, manages various criminal justice issues such as clemency and extraditions, serves as a liaison to the attorney general, monitors and responds to ethics issues, and reviews requests for public records and the Governor’s private papers.

During the course of the semester, our interns are given a number of assignments (almost all of which are based in writing and legal research), and receive guidance and prompt detailed feedback on their projects.  In particular, Fall 2018 interns will play a crucial role in our judicial appointments process. With an unusual number of vacancies set for the late summer and fall, interns will assist our office with vetting of judicial nominees. This is critical work that involves interviewing attorneys and judges across the state about the qualifications of nominees and the needs of particular Colorado courts. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn from insiders about how the state judiciary functions: interns can expect to regularly interact with civil attorneys, public defenders, district attorneys, and judges in county and district courts, the Court of Appeals, and the Colorado Supreme Court.

Commitment to consistent weekly hours based on individual schedules During the Spring session: minimum 16hrs/week, working at least 3 consecutive hours per day in the office for 12 weeks, during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
