Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel Looking for Interns/Externs (Spring and Summer 2018)

The Governor’s Legal Counsel provides legal advice to the governor, cabinet, and staff; assists in the development of the governor’s policy initiatives; reviews and drafts legislation; coordinates and drafts the governor’s executive orders; advises the governor on state judicial appointments; prepares the state’s legal response to emergency and crisis situations; manages various criminal justice issues such as clemency and extraditions; serves as a liaison to the attorney general; monitors and responds to ethics problems; and reviews requests for public records and the governor’s private papers.

During the course of the semester and the summer, our interns are given a number of assignments (almost all of which are based in writing and legal research), and receive both guidance and prompt detailed feedback on their projects.
