Located in Steamboat Springs (a nice, cool place to spend the summer), this internship offers a free shared housing offer, a monthly bonus for the 2 month internship, and one-on-one mentoring and learning from attorney Catherine Swan. You will get to participate in client meetings and learn the basics of how to run a small/solo law firm while developing advanced skills in estate planning law.
Swan Law is seeking rising 2L or 3L (or evening law program equivalent) for an estate planning law clerk internship. The experience will include client contact and joining Attorney Catherine Swan in client meetings and learning how to develop a complete estate plan including POA, beneficiaries, etc. The intern will also gain practice management skills learning how a small law firm operates.

Compensation and Housing:
Intern will unpaid except for bonus compensation for completing Legacy Plan estate plans. Swan law currently has 25-30 ongoing client Legacy plans at various stages of completion.
Housing walking/biking distance from the Swan Law Firm is available at no cost to the selected summer law clerk.
Law clerk will work this summer on estate planning and business law matters. Position is to begin in June and last through end of July.

Core work hours are 9 am – 4 pm Monday – Friday. Our office is closed noon – 1 pm daily.
Our office is closed on holidays. Intern is expected to work additional hours each week to accomplish needed tasks.
Scheduling of additional hours is flexible.
Housing will be provided at no cost to Intern as follows:
Sharing of home located at 730 Pamela Lane.
Intern will have parking space, private bedroom and private bathroom.
Intern will have shared use of laundry, living, kitchen, dining areas and yard.
Home is owned by Allen Matthewson. Allen is a Commercial Account Executive for Steamboat Select Insurance Group. Allen occupies the home with his dog.
This is not an hourly position. This is not a salaried position. Intern is an unpaid position except as follows: for every 5 Legacy Plans Delivered, Intern will receive a $400 bonus.
On the first working day of each month, intern shall submit a complete and accurate record of Legacy Plans Delivered to management for review and approval. Bonus checks are issued on the 5th of each month for preceding month. When the 5th falls on a non-business day, checks will be issued the following business day.
Legacy Plan Delivered is finish line for our estate planning clients. Refer to Sample Binder and Checklists for details of activities included. Goal is 10 per month.
Other bonuses may be available subject to management’s discretion.
