The United States Attorney’s Office, Denver, Colorado, is seeking law students for its summer 2017 externship positions for both the Civil and Criminal Divisions. The primary duty of the law student is research and writing. Assignments include, but are not limited to, responsive motions, dispositive pleadings, memoranda of law, and appellate briefs. The position allows the student to become familiar with the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Evidence, the local rules of practice for the United States District Court, and the local and Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure. In addition to research and writing, students may attend depositions, meetings with agents, and accompany the attorneys to observe court proceedings. The deadline to apply is January 23, 2017.
