Class of ’18: Schedule Your State Court Judicial Clerkship Appointment Now

Class of ’18,

Interested in applying for postgraduate judicial clerkships with the Colorado Supreme Court and Court of Appeals for the term beginning in fall of 2018? If so, we recommend meeting with a member of the CDO’s Judicial Clerkship Team by the end of November. While there are no published deadlines for judicial clerkship applications, we understand that Justice Allison Eid is already accepting applications and some of the other Supreme Court Justices may begin reviewing applications in early 2017.  Therefore, interested candidates should ideally apply to Colorado Supreme Court Justices in January/February 2017 (or even before that). As for the Colorado Court of Appeals there is wide variability as to when judges hire clerks but ideally, we recommend applying between Spring Break and June.

Since the timing and application process for applying to judicial clerkships can be challenging, we recommend scheduling a meeting with a member of the CDO clerkship team before the end of this semester so we can help you determine the best timing and approach for your situation. If you cannot make it in to the office by then, keep in mind we are open between semesters as well.  The CDO Clerkship Team is composed of Judy Stein, jstein@law.du.edu; Andrea Montague, amontague@law.du.edu; and Eric Bono, ebono@law.du.edu.  To schedule an appointment with a member of the clerkship team, please drop by our front desk or email careers@law.du.edu.

Finally, following up on our prior communications, keep in mind that it is not too late to see us about federal clerkships as well.
