Helpful Article on Associate Salaries and Assessing Law Firm Fit

Check out this excellent article from The Legal Intelligencer, “Associate Salaries: What Am I Worth?”  The article contains helpful insight into the business side of private practice and suggests a number of factors to think about in considering whether a particular firm may be a good fit for you.

While the article is excellent overall, I do feel compelled to point out that at least in Denver, there is more information available about entry-level small and medium-size firm salaries than the article suggests.  While salaries at individual small and medium-sized firms are not typically “public information” in the same way as BigLaw salaries, which are disclosed on the NALP Directory of Legal Employers, you can access entry-level salary information for the classes of 2011 through 2015 based on a variety of employer characteristics, including firm size.  To access this information, go to our Employment Statistics page, click on each individual class year and drill down to our report from the National Association of Law Placement.
