The Faculty of Federal Advocates (FFA) is proud to offer its Annual Federal Court Trial Advocacy Skills Workshop, with two full-day sessions scheduled for Friday, February 19 and Friday, March 4, 2016. The sessions will be conducted concurrently in the United States District Court and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado. Participants will prepare and present a personal injury or fraud case at a mock trial.

The FFA is looking for law students to serve as a volunteer mock trial witness for the FFA’s trial advocacy program.  Volunteering as a witness allows law students to work closely with practicing attorneys, Judges and have a ton of fun learning about trial practice.  Students would need to be available the afternoon of Friday, February 19 from 3:00 until about 4:30 and from 9-4:30 on Friday, March 4. Lunch would be provided on March 4.

The first full-day session on Friday, February 19 will be devoted to hands-on trial practice training from top Denver litigators. Such training will include presentations and practice exercises on effective opening and closing statements, direct examination and cross-examination techniques, introducing exhibits/making and defending objections to evidence, and the use of courtroom technology.

On Friday, March 4, 2016, participants will utilize their newly honed trial skills to present the case to a jury with a U.S. District Court Judge, U.S. Magistrate Judge, or U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge presiding over the full-day mock trial. Each courtroom will also be assigned a faculty member chosen from among Denver’s most accomplished civil litigators to provide hands-on and immediate feedback and instruction during the trial. This two-day workshop is a unique and rare opportunity to obtain training, advice and feedback from the experts!
